Investing in Yourself

When you consider *investing* in yourself, what comes to mind? Your education? A fancy spa vacation? Your house or car? We tend to think of *investing* as a financial undertaking, but this week we're going to talk about *investing* from the perspective of putting your time, energy, and effort towards a worthwhile result.

When you think of *investing* in yourself, what comes to mind? Spending lots of money on your education? Fancy spa vacations? Your house and car?

I love pampering myself as much as the next person, but that’s not what we’re talking about today. In fact, today’s episode of The Transforming Anxiety Podcast has nothing to do with money at all.

Today, we're talking about investing in YOURSELF.

More specifically: the returns you're getting on the investments that you're making every day.

We're going to explore areas like:

- Sleep

- Food

- Movement

- Media

- Relationships

What are you investing in these areas of your life? What is your current return on those investments? So interesting to explore...

Plus, I made a worksheet for you. This sweet and simple guide will walk you through and help you get clear on what's happening currently, and what you want to see happen. You can grab your worksheets by clicking here.

A few resources that I found while researching this episode that I think will be helpful in showing how important these investments truly are:

Sleep

The Harvard article on sleep and overall health that I mention in the episode can be found here: http://healthysleep.med.harvard.edu/need-sleep/whats-in-it-for-you/health .

The Anxiety and Depression Association of America also wrote an article about the impacts of sleep on anxiety here: https://adaa.org/understanding-anxiety/related-illnesses/sleep-disorders .

Movement

The Mayo Clinic article on exercise and its positive effects on both anxiety and depression can be found here: https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/depression/in-depth/depression-and-exercise/art-20046495 .

Food

The book, The Anti-Anxiety Food Solution by Trudy Scott is a great reference for food, particularly where anxiety is concerned.

Media

An article from Science Daily that explores a study about overall time on social media with teens and how that is (or is not) linked to rates of anxiety and depression: https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/10/191022174406.htm .

And let me hear from you! Comment below, send me an email, or connect with me on social media. I’d love to keep the conversation going with you, yes YOU, between episodes.

Don’t forget to join me on Facebook live every Wednesday morning at 11am CST and come say “hi” over on Instagram
