The Anxiety Might Not Be Yours

One of the really fun πŸ™„ hallmarks of anxiety is that we take it so personally. Have you noticed?

We make it mean something about us as individuals, like we alone are to "blame" for this experience.

But: what if the anxiety isn't yours?

You inherited your height, your talent for music, and the way you laugh from your ancestors. What if you inherited your tendency to worry, your sorta-kinda-a-little-bit neurotic inclinations, and that damn anxiety from them, too?

You've been taught how to manage family and work, what success looks like, and the "right way" to react to all of life's challenges from the people around you. What if you learned to freak out and get anxious from them, too?

Society has delivered a bazillion memos to you about how to look / act / talk / show up / work / parent / love plus what to wear while you're doing it...what if you learned how to fuel all of that with anxiety, just like the culture has fueled its messages with fear?

On this week's episode of The Transforming Anxiety Podcast we're going to explore the idea that the anxiety might not be yours plus I've got a few tips on what the heck to DO with the anxiety you've been handed from past generations and lessons from society.
